Warm weather where are you???
I'm tired of layering and layering some more to keep warm. I seem to have run out of steam... maybe its the weather, or school or never feeling like I've slept enough or maybe i'm just ready for spring break....its probably a combination of all of those things.
Anyway, I've decided that since i'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of spring's warmth,I've decided to just start getting myself ready for spring, regardless of the weather. I've started by unpacking my shorts and decided to wear this pair since they haven't graced the blog yet.

When i left home, i was immediately reminded that as much as i wanted it to be springtime, its still winter.... Thankfully, i did warm up after a few minutes of jumping...

Lately, i've been a little smitten with plaid. However, when i saw this top while thrifting, i didn't like it. But i liked that it was plaid and thought that i could rework it for a sewing project. I haven't gotten around to reworking it just yet, but i'm kinda digging the sleeves on it. I paired it with a plaid patterned skirt that i've had for a while now and should probably wear more often.

This is my favorite shade of blue. I found this blue blazer, and couldn't resist wearing it despite the heat outside. In my defense, its really cool in the office, so it worked out. Am I the only one that gets a little shy during photoshoots? Being that i take my pics outside(usually somewhere public ie: on the streets of Atlanta)for the good light, i'm subject to a lot of confused stares and wary looks. Does anyone else get a bit self-concious during their photoshoots? Do tell!

There's been a chill in the air for the past few days. I've had to break out a few of my winter gear for the chilly mornings. But i won't let a little cold weather deter me from embracing spring. Which to me means wearing this kimono-like wrap top which i love but rarely wear. I'm hoping to change that.

Saving this sequinned blouse for the holiday season or for some festive occasion seemed like a waste of clothing. Especially since this blouse adds a spring to my step even if its just to see the reflections of the sequins as they dance in the sunlight. I paired it my gray cargo jacket to tone down the flashy sequins of the blouse. I originally thought i'd have difficulty finding things to pair with this gray cargo jacket, but its quickly becoming a favorite.

I'm sure most of you have been on the edge of your seats wondering what i had planned for the last day of the 1 skirt, 3 ways challenge. I had a variety of errands to run so i knew this look had to be very comfortable and easy. Thankfully, its finally warmed up enough so i decided to bare my legs for the day. I'm really looking forward to the warmth of spring's arrival, can't wait to remove tights from my daily attire.

I hope no one minds, because this is the outfit i wore on Friday to the early hours of Saturday morning. It's black, so i hope its ok even if its what i wore on Friday. I had a very busy weekend so i didn't have very much time to post pics of my outfits. This outfit is an example of what a perfect outfit is to me. Typically, for a day like this, i would have preferred to be in a dress, but given the weather on Friday, pants had to do. I had to go to school, work, then back to school for a banquet and then out to a club for some much needed dancing with some classmates.
I'm wearing the blouse of one my native outfits but to give it a modern twist to take me to work, i wore my black jeans. Throw in the flower clip for that splash of random that i love and boom! Perfect day to night outfit. At least for me. By the way, these shoes are some of the most comfortable heels i own. My feet didn't start to ache till 2am.

I have a special thing for button down shirts. They're right up there with my penchance for dresses. Especially short thigh bearers. But i digress. I added two mens' button downs to my ever growing collection of shirts. One is fairly simple, with vertical green and white stripes, while the other seems more appropriate for a pimp who has an affinity for penguins. So of course, i got them both. And being the very patient woman that i am, i wore them the first chance i got, the first ensemble was worn to school, the other was worn to work for "Casual Friday".

i always end up distracted by other things when i'm supposed to be studying. take for instance when i was supposed to be reading for my very exciting econ class,i ended up watching How to Marry A Millionaire with Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall .A humorous movie about how people make plans, and then life happens, something everyone can relate to. I'm in love with the ladies' incredibly glamourous wardrobe for the movie; filled with chic hats, high waisted skirts, beautiful gowns and luxurious furs that made the movie even more fun watch.

Which led me to googling Marilyn Monroe (when i was supposed to be doing practice problems) and found this :

Which served as the inspiration for this outfit as interpreted by me. I finally got to wear this satin button down that seems a bit too short to wear any other way but tucked in.

There was a palpable excitement in the air today, not in my 8 o clock class though because everyone was still asleep in there, but after that, excited people everywhere. Most likely because the 44th and First African American President, Barack Obama was inaugurated into office today. It was such a beautiful occasion, and even though i'm not in Washington, its incredibly exciting to know that i was able to witness history being made. And more importantly i'll even have documentation of what i was wearing. Hehe!

As far as my clothes, I couldn't resist wearing my pink coat again today. Plus, it was just what i needed for today's dip in temperatures because it was once again in the teens when i left home this morning. I wore pants that could be seen as pushing the boundaries of "office appropriate" pants simply because they're so fitted(or tight-like according to my sister). Thankfully i work in a very business casual work place and i have a gray cardi which i think balances out the super fitted look of the pants..

In traditional black monday mode, i'm wearing all black. It really makes getting dressed so much easier when i know i'm wearing mostly black. Threw on a vest for a bit of color (even though its gray) and for function too, my sheer black top needed some sort of coverage on a cold day like today.
What i wore:
Sheer Shirt (Thrifted)
Waistcoat (Macys)
Pants (Papaya)
Shoes (Bandolino -TJMaxx)
Earrings(Gift from sis -Wet seal)
Bangles (Target)

My very brilliant sister who knows me too well, bought me this beautiful colorful skirt for Christmas. I think this the most cheerful skirt i own. Even on a dreary day like today was, i felt fantastic in this simple but fun dotted skirt.

Blazer (Thrifted)
Shirt (F21)
Skirt (Anthropologie)
Tights (CVS)
Sandals (Bakers)

It's back to school, and I need another school break already because winter vacation raced by way too fast. In honor of black Mondays which refers to my lack of creative juices flowing on Mondays, I’m wearing mostly black. I kind of match the weather today, its gloomy and dark and rained all day. Very Fun.

Now, no one be alarmed, but I almost died on my way to class yesterday.

Before you all panic, let me tell you the story.

Here is some background info that you should know : the school bookstore is the place to be during the first week of school. Students of all colors, shapes and sizes congregate there (mainly because they're stuck in long lines trying to buy books) and socialize (gripe about the fact that our school is making students broke).

I was on my way to class, taking big confident strides because I was looking good (to me), feeling good, ready to jump in feet first to start off the school year. I had to pass in front of the bookstore to get to class, so as I approached the front of the bookstore, I started walking straighter, and maybe threw in a slight sashay into my gait. And then out of nowhere and of course, right in front of the bookstore; I slipped and almost lost my balance. It seems i found an invisible puddle and stepped into it.

Thankfully, I didn't fall and I didn't hurt anything, so I was able to regain my composure but my ego was bruised. I was forced to walk the remainder of the route to my class taking smaller, measured steps.

Lesson learned from this incident: I need to dress more sensibly when it rains (aka I need new boots)

What i wore:
Faux Leather Jacket (F21)
Shirt (H & M)
Skirt ( Thrifted)
Tights (Target)
Ankle Boots (Go Jane)

Pardon me, i 'm having a grab and go day. Mondays are always difficult for me. I can never seem to find anything that fits properly. i decided that the answer to this dilemna was to do the all black thing with a pop of color. I have a back shot of my outfit because i'm wearing my shirt backwards. The pop of color came from my shoes. Anyone w/ tips for making mondays a bit less melancholy, feel free to share.
