Another rainy day
We sat inside by the radiator
Watching old black and white films
Where everybody sang
You played in my solitude
Didn't get dressed 'til 2

~my favorite lines of the song "Another Rainy Day" by Corrine Bailey Ray

It pretty much sums my feelings for what i wish for on rainy days.

But being a working girl doesn't allow me the luxury of laying around in my blankets reading and watching tv on rainy days. So i did the next best thing and overdressed for work.
My dress is my most recent and final purchase of 2009.It has such an feminine shape and vibrant floral print that made me feel lovely all day.Ok, I'm gonna give these boots a rest sometime soon. Honest.
The weather was gorgeous yesterday. I couldn't resist the urge to wear a skirt and my new boots. LOVE em, because they're surprisingly comfortable. I didn't feel like switching out purses because that's how i end up getting locked out of the office...or my house...or my car..lol. Plus i'm all about random splashes of color.

It pretty much rained all day today,so no outside pics. I had to find a lonely corner and take pics today. And yeah, that's right, i'm wearing the shrug...but one-armed. I really like the way it looks.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright
And i pity,
anyone that isn't me toniiiiiiiiighht!

That song is stuck. I think its the skirt...i'm feeling incredibly random so bare with me. I think i'll go rent west-side story. And sing along...feel free to join in.lol
I'm wearing one of the skirts i altered. It was below knee length to begin with, i hemmed it and today hiked it up a bit.

This may be my goodbye summer outfit. With the arrival of cooler weather, i'll have to dig out my sweaters, jackets, pants and tights. Ah tights, i'm going to miss exposing my bare legs and not having to drape them in tights or pants. However, don't be fooled, i'm excited for fall and some cooler weather.

I planned this outfit around my earrings. They're so dainty and pretty and i'm so impressed that the Manfriend picked these out for me. I paired it with easy black and white as i've been rocking prints hard for the past few days.

I'm getting a bit excited about the next upcoming weeks. The Atlanta Fashion Week for 2009 is coming up in a few weeks. I can't wait to see what the atlanta designers have been working on. I can't even imagine how excited i would be if i got to go. On that oh so subtle note, if anyone needs someone to accompany them to Atlanta Fashion Week, i wouldn't mind going at all...lol. *ahem* moving on...
This is what i wore to school after sleeping in late and going thru the exhausting task of trying to get a new phone (it got soaked beyond repair during a trip to the lake). Don't know what possessed me to wear black as the heat is ridiculously sweltering right now. My thing for florals is still thriving,(see floral jacket below) so i'm loving F21's current selection of floral skirts. And although there's no red in the skirt, somehow, the red flower and red shoes seem right paired with this outfit. I love the summer time.

Happy Monday Everyone!!
Welcome to another edition of Black Mondays, this time, the focal point is my new favorite scarf from Kim, and my pink peep-toed pumps. I’m realizing that I have quite the collection of black shirts which I guess is good as most of them get numerous chances to shine because of Black Mondays. And this scarf is working as the most comfortable bracelet ever.
I’m gearing up for the crazy busyness that comes with the end of the school semester. I’m not looking forward to the slew of finals approaching, however I am looking forward to being done with a few classes. Especially Microeconomics..no disrespect intended to those who love it though.

This is my first Wardrobe Challenge and it's being hosted by the lovely Jane of Work That Wardrobe .Ever promise yourself not to spend money on new clothes? Well this very strong-willed lady has committed to that for almost a year, and is doing it stylishly well.
The challenge is self-explanatory: wear one skirt, 3 different ways. I picked this skirt because its one of my favorites and its been hanging on the back of my door for almost a month. Plus, when i received this skirt, i knew i was going to play with it to come up with a variety of looks. I started off fairly simply, with the dots on my skirt and the blue belt serving as the focal points for this ensemble.

I kind of wish i could rewind the past week. To relax and hang out without worrying about going to work or school was pure bliss. I'm working on a super secret plan to win the lottery so that i can fulfill my secret dream of becoming a beach bum.
But since i have not won the lottery yet, i figure its best to count my blessings.

1. The fact that i have been blessed with the opportunity to go to college
2. The fact that i have a job
3. That Ga weather is warming up beautifully and signaling the arrival of spring.
4. That i have legs that work so that i can teeter to school and work in my new purple "spring" heels
5. These stunna heart shades that make me smile when i see a reflection of myself
6. My beautiful glass blown ring that inspired my outfit

I spent the day frolicking about in Georgia's beautiful weather and it was fantastic! Nothing super spectacular, just thankful the spring-like warm weather. I got my new laptop and the keys feel ooh so nice. I was so excited to go see the long awaited Watchmen. I saw the previews for it last year and i couldn't wait for the movie's release and i have to say, i was not too impressed. However, it probably should be taken into consideration that i've never read any of the Watchmen Comics. And after i saw the movie and read the reviews, it seemed that people who read and follow the Watchmen Comics seemed to rate the movie higher than those who do not. That being said, for what its worth, i like the soundtrack and the graphics was fantastic. If you've seen the movie or plan on seeing it, feel free to share your thoughts.

Being the pack rat that i am, i hold on to anything with a hint of sentimental value. Like this skirt. When my mom bought it for me on one of her shopping excursions that did not include me, i was livid (teen angst, hehehe). I absolutely hated this skirt and thought it was hideous and vowed never to wear it, but i couldn't let it go either because my mom got it for me. Fast forward a few years,i've grown quite a bit but funnily, a part of me still finds the skirt just a little bit ugly. But i like it.I'm finding that it gets easier for me to wear whatever i want, as long as i wear the clothes, and not the other way around.

I really like transformative pieces. Like this brocade jacket i found while hunting (shopping) a few weeks back. It makes my simple all black ensemble seem like i put more thought into it and refines the look into something that's quite relaxed yet office apppropriate. I'm actually wearing my high-waisted pants, but i could not be bothered with the tiresome task of tucking it in today .

Happy Monday Everyone!
Welcome to another edition of Black Mondays! This time I've spiced up my basic black with accents of white and gold. Plus, it gave me a chance to wear this funky beaded fringe necklace that I’ve been itching to wear. Plus, my 8-year old brother who is usually confused about my ensembles (why are you wearing your belt as a necklace?..etc) , saw me this morning and said, " Cool Necklace" . Jackpot!

My mother's birthday was on Sunday, so i spent a majority of my weekend planning with my sisters and my dad. I love to plan things and watch things unfold and come together as planned so i had a great time. I 'm usually the one planning family vacations, trips and date nights for me and the Manfriend.
On the big day, we actually had our family portrait redone (because i oppose contacts) then headed home to cut the cake and have dinner (and dancing). It was fantastic, we had a family photoshoot, then food and then dancing...it was a near perfect day.

here's what i wore for the day. We started with a casual clothes..everyone got to choose casual clothes that reflect their personalities... i'm in love w/ blazers right now, so of course i wore one. I'd planned on saving this blazer for the spring, but i couldn't resist wearing it for the photos.

This outfit:
Blazer (Express)
Black Top (F21)
Jeans ( Express)
Shoes (Bakers)
Blue Flower Headband (Beauty Supply Store)

Then we changed to our native attires. These were custome made for us, we chose the colors. And thankfully the seamstress understood that i walk fast, so my skirt blossoms from the knees downwards to allow plenty of leg room and big movement.

I'm posting my sister's outfits as well. Lachmeister is on the left, and Nimsta is on the right. These are all nicknames as i'm posting these pics w/out their permission...or with their staunch objection. But as the oldest child, sometimes my say gets to override theirs. Its basically the same style, a shirt and a long skirt, but w/ differentiating details; ruffles and ropes and different cuts for the top.

Photo credits go to my sisters for my photos and i took the pics of them.
By the way, they gave me permission to put up their pics :-)
Happy New Year Everyone!!
I hope everyone had a fun filled, relaxing and wonderful new year's day. I would say we're all pretty blessed to see the new year. I spent the first day of the new year lounging about in my comfiest clothes hanging out with my family. We decided to leave the house but we were limited to our choices of where to go, due to the declining temperatures, so we ended up going to one of the posher *cough *richer malls, where a lot of stars have been spotted. Of course when i went, i spotted no one. Grr.
This is what i wore on New Year's Day:
Coat (F21)
Sweater (Papaya)
Skirt (F21)
Tights (Target)
Ribbon (taken off a dress)
Boots (Chinese Laundry)

One of my new year resolutions was to step outside my comfort zone. Try something new and different for me appearance wise So TADA!!!. I'm still playing with and adjusting to the new length, but on the plus side its very low maintenance which i love AND its got that french girl effortless cool vibe thing going on.
This is what i wore:
Faux Leather Jacket (X-mas Gift F21)
Pashmina (X-mas Gift)
Jeans (F21)
Boots (American Eagle)
