Lessons in Comfort

Anyone who knows my blog, knows that i love dresses because they cut dressing time into half.I wore this outfit a few days ago to run around town with my mom. The day started very early, with little to time to do my hair, this straw hat was perfect for a hot summer's day. I got this dress last winter and last wore it in Savannah during spring break.Its such an easy dress to wear, which always surprises me because i have a general dislike for strapless clothes.I don't like the incessant adjustments to pull the dresses up and down, and I can't seem to shake the childhood fear that whatever strapless article i wear will inevitably slide down and expose my boobs for the world to see...lol. Thankfully, all the times i've worn this dress, its been utterly easy and generally adjustment-free.

Well Vested

Happy Monday Everyone!
Not to start off too sappy, but you lovely bloggers who stop by and whisper sweet nothings in my ears, I appreciate it. You guys are making me feel all warm inside and leave me grinning with glee .lol. Seriously though, i really appreciate the emails and the comments. So, a very big THANK YOU to you all.
Ok, today’s outfit started off with the flirty floral dress that left me doubting its appropriateness for the office. Thankfully, I have The Vest aka, the perfect piece to transform the dress to appropriate office wear(at least in my book). I found it while thrifting past this weekend. Definitely going to be playing dress up with this vest. Very soon.

Pattern-Mixing

It started pouring HARD as we were taking pics today. It felt like each time the flash went off, there was a thunderous boom of thunder and lightning to match it.
But not even drenching rain could deter my enthusiasm in wearing this gorgeous colorful skirt. The pics do the skirt no justice, plus due to dwindling light and the pelting raindrops, we had to cut the shoot short. I'm also wearing another dress as a top. You may recognize the top as a dress and as a top from these posts.
*pay no attention to the mischievous glimmer in my eyes, that's how i react to thunder..some get scared, i get excited*

Recovery

I hope everyone had a fantastic 4th. I had one of the best weekends ever, spent w/ the Manfriend and my family. Fireworks make me so giddy with excitement, its kind of ridiculous. Food, Family and a throng of people you don't know is always the recipe for an interesting time.
After such a fun weekend, its a bit hard to go back to the regular routine. So I'm having one of those days when NOTHING looks right or feels right and i just want to crawl under my covers and watch movies. Not even my fail safe dresses looked right today. So i fell back on two things that usually make me feel better,clothes that multitask and skirts w/ pockets. My ruffled shirt is simply this ruffled tunic dress tucked into a skirt. If only there were fireworks or something to distract me.lol.Hope you guys are off to a better start.

Toffee

This is what i wore to school. As you can see, i'm glistening not sweating from the ridiculous heat (because ladies don't sweat). After the photoshoot, my graceful photographer(my sis) and i stopped for yogurt and toffee, which was surprisingly good. Surprising to me because i'm a complete and total chocoholic, and usually don't like any flavors except chocolate(read: i'm a complete and total chocoholic).

Superstar

Due to a disease called procrastination, i ended up waiting till the very last minute to run my errands for Fathers' Day. Thankfully, in the midst of all the errand running, we found time to take a few pics. If anyone knows the cure for this terrible disease called procrastination, don't hesistate to share.

Just Add Red

I'm getting a bit excited about the next upcoming weeks. The Atlanta Fashion Week for 2009 is coming up in a few weeks. I can't wait to see what the atlanta designers have been working on. I can't even imagine how excited i would be if i got to go. On that oh so subtle note, if anyone needs someone to accompany them to Atlanta Fashion Week, i wouldn't mind going at all...lol. *ahem* moving on...
This is what i wore to school after sleeping in late and going thru the exhausting task of trying to get a new phone (it got soaked beyond repair during a trip to the lake). Don't know what possessed me to wear black as the heat is ridiculously sweltering right now. My thing for florals is still thriving,(see floral jacket below) so i'm loving F21's current selection of floral skirts. And although there's no red in the skirt, somehow, the red flower and red shoes seem right paired with this outfit. I love the summer time.

So Casual

I get emails all the time about my style, and people inquiring whether or not its real. Whether i go to school and work in the ensembles that i put up. The answer is yes. I actually enjoy dressing up most of the time, and i wear my heels because i've loved them since i was 5 and played in my mother's.
But i'm not always dressed up, i have down ( busier) days, when i know i'll have to walk ALOT, running errands and things like that. And while there's nothing wrong with running errands in heels ( i do it often enough), there are times when the ease and comfort of flats are simply preferred.

Accordion

I saw the print and the accordion pleats on this top and instantly fell in love. I initially thought it was a skirt and spent a good 3 minutes trying to pull this top over my legs. I gave up that method and tried to pull it on over my head and planned to shimmy it down to my waist when i discovered it was a top. I laughed so hard i bet the people in the neighboring stalls thought i was a little nuts.

Versatile

One of the misconceptions i had about maintaining my natural hair was that it would be too much work and i would not be able to do much with. I'm really glad that so far, i've been wrong. I will admit that i have been leaning toward more feminine clothes since i started wearing my hair naturally...very interesting.However, today, i'm rocking my go to outfit formula: Button down shirt + X = Easy.

Kimono

There's been a chill in the air for the past few days. I've had to break out a few of my winter gear for the chilly mornings. But i won't let a little cold weather deter me from embracing spring. Which to me means wearing this kimono-like wrap top which i love but rarely wear. I'm hoping to change that.

Stripe Master

Its stripes galore. Yesterday, i wore a striped shirt, today a striped dress. I love this dress. Last time i wore it, it was as a shirt, but i decided to show off the dress in its entirety today. And Yay for new shoes, check my footwork.

Tucked and Giggles

I found this fun striped top on a thrift trip. Weirdly, the top is actually a shirt bodysuit/leotard/ unitard form and i figured, i have to have it as every girl needs a bodysuit/unitard-like shirt in her closet right? Oh, and my eyes pretty much disappear when i laugh.

Complements

Bright colors, especially complementary colors, make me feel better about getting dressed when the weather is kind of dreary outside. That and making lists. Here the top three on my list:
1. I'm looking forward to the weekend's activities
2. I'm really glad my endless campouts at the school library paid off. I mean i was locked in the library studying on my birthday. lol ( i received my grades, and i thank God!!)
3. Tomorrow is going to be a fun-filled adventure.

Black And Navy

I 've gone so long without wearing navy, and now it seems like for the past few days, most of my outfits consist of it in some way. Today, I'm wearing black and navy, so its almost an all-black monday ensemble, but not quite. I've wanted to try the black-navy blue combination for a while but i was kind of hesitant at first because black and navy are such dark hues especially when worn together. But with the red highlights, i like how it turned out.
