i always end up distracted by other things when i'm supposed to be studying. take for instance when i was supposed to be reading for my very exciting econ class,i ended up watching How to Marry A Millionaire with Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall .A humorous movie about how people make plans, and then life happens, something everyone can relate to. I'm in love with the ladies' incredibly glamourous wardrobe for the movie; filled with chic hats, high waisted skirts, beautiful gowns and luxurious furs that made the movie even more fun watch.

Which led me to googling Marilyn Monroe (when i was supposed to be doing practice problems) and found this :

Which served as the inspiration for this outfit as interpreted by me. I finally got to wear this satin button down that seems a bit too short to wear any other way but tucked in.

There was a palpable excitement in the air today, not in my 8 o clock class though because everyone was still asleep in there, but after that, excited people everywhere. Most likely because the 44th and First African American President, Barack Obama was inaugurated into office today. It was such a beautiful occasion, and even though i'm not in Washington, its incredibly exciting to know that i was able to witness history being made. And more importantly i'll even have documentation of what i was wearing. Hehe!

As far as my clothes, I couldn't resist wearing my pink coat again today. Plus, it was just what i needed for today's dip in temperatures because it was once again in the teens when i left home this morning. I wore pants that could be seen as pushing the boundaries of "office appropriate" pants simply because they're so fitted(or tight-like according to my sister). Thankfully i work in a very business casual work place and i have a gray cardi which i think balances out the super fitted look of the pants..

For the past few mondays, i'm usually decked out in mostly black ensembles which is my traditional monday gear(makes it easier to get dressed), but today, i was too excited and had to wear my newest treasure.
Granted i own quite a few pink items, i never thought i'd own a coat this pink. But i found it while thrifting on Saturday morning and i immediately fell in love. Its unexpectedly cute (albeit loud), and functional (its sooo warm) bring it on super cold winter mornings!
I'm wearing this dress, tucked into a black pencil skirt.

What i wore:
Coat (Vintage)
Dress (Vintage)
Bag (Target)
Tights (Target)
Skirt (F21)
Belt (Thrifted)
Shoes (Madeline Stuart)

I wore this lovely blue dress today to match the sun filled day with a side of bright blue skies, that was Sunday. It warmed up to the 40's and after the bone chilling weather we've had, i had to break out a dress. This dress is thrifted and and i had to alter its length because it came down to the nether region that exists past the knees and right before the ankles.
What i wore:
Blazer (Thrifted)
Dress (Thrifted)
Belt (Dots)
Tights (CVS)
Clutch (Thrifted)
Ankle Boots (Go Jane)

Ever since i publicly declared my love for sequins, i 've been finding the oddest sequined items. The item that takes the cake, at least for now, has to be this sequined argyle sweater. When i saw it, i thought to myself, "now who would be crazy enough to wear a sequined argyle sweater..." and a moment later i was trying it on. I'm trying to tone it down a bit, because i did wear it to work. Plus it was in the 20's this morning as i left home this morning so i have a thin sweater (shown folded over the sleeves) on underneath. Anyone else missing the ease and freedom of dressing in warmer weather?

What i wore:
Argyle sequinned sweater (Express)
Pants (INC)
Sweater and Coat (F21)
Pink shoes (Aerosoles)
Bag (Target)

I love discovering things in my closet. The blouse i'm wearing has been in my closet for at least 4 years without being worn. My mother bought it for me whilst i was in my earlier teenage years, and like most teens at that age i decided i was too cool for it. So it lay in my closet, forgotten for all these years.
Until, early one tuesday morning, when all the stars were alligned, and the sun and the moon where in their right spots, and all the right accompanying items where acquired (early this morning as i frantically tried to find something to wear), a spotlight shone on the blouse, and i just knew i had to wear it.

This is what i wore:
Blouse ( From my mom)
Faux Leather Jacket (Dots)
Pants (Macys)
Belt (Thrifted)
Shoes ( GoJane)

In traditional black monday mode, i'm wearing all black. It really makes getting dressed so much easier when i know i'm wearing mostly black. Threw on a vest for a bit of color (even though its gray) and for function too, my sheer black top needed some sort of coverage on a cold day like today.
What i wore:
Sheer Shirt (Thrifted)
Waistcoat (Macys)
Pants (Papaya)
Shoes (Bandolino -TJMaxx)
Earrings(Gift from sis -Wet seal)
Bangles (Target)

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! This is what i wore on Friday. i was w/out a photographer on Friday and I don't have a tripod, so it was quite a task taking these pictures. My makshift tripod was my purse, and the camera was set to a 10 sec timer, and then i ran into place. Vey comical, as sometimes i ended up with shots of just my head, or my arm.

What i wore:
Jacket (F21)
Sweater (Ruff Hewn)
Jeans (F21)
Boots ( Charlotte Russe)
Scarf (Target)

Ever seen a kid receive a toy and they just seem to carry that toy everywhere? They take it into the bathtub, and outside in the grass and even to bed. They want to bring that toy along on trips to the grocery store, to school and even to church.
Right now, that's me and my faux leather jacket. I want to wear it everything in my closet. I even want to pair it with my pajamas and wear it to bed. Extreme, i know, but i really, really like it.
I'm really going to enjoy throwing it over random items in my closet. But i'm also going to have to work hard not to neglect the rest of my other coats and jackets.

This is what i wore Thursday:
Faux Leather Jacket (F21)
Scarf & Tee (Target)
Jeans (Macys)
Boots (Chinese Laundry)

I promise i brushed my hair, despite its unkept and crazylike appearance. Gusty winds kept giving me random cowlicks, sending hair into my eye and threatening to raise my skirt over my head. It was a quite an ordeal to anticipate the precise second at which to firmly grab at my skirt because it kept floating up at the most inopportune moments. I finally gave up and each time i had to walk outside, i anchored my skirt down by slipping my hands into pockets on the side. i'm sure i looked a bit strange, but at least my skirt was no longer a bother.

This is what i wore:
Jacket (F21)
Skirt (Target)
Gray Tights (Walmart)
Boots(American Eagle)

My very brilliant sister who knows me too well, bought me this beautiful colorful skirt for Christmas. I think this the most cheerful skirt i own. Even on a dreary day like today was, i felt fantastic in this simple but fun dotted skirt.

Blazer (Thrifted)
Shirt (F21)
Skirt (Anthropologie)
Tights (CVS)
Sandals (Bakers)

It's back to school, and I need another school break already because winter vacation raced by way too fast. In honor of black Mondays which refers to my lack of creative juices flowing on Mondays, I’m wearing mostly black. I kind of match the weather today, its gloomy and dark and rained all day. Very Fun.

Now, no one be alarmed, but I almost died on my way to class yesterday.

Before you all panic, let me tell you the story.

Here is some background info that you should know : the school bookstore is the place to be during the first week of school. Students of all colors, shapes and sizes congregate there (mainly because they're stuck in long lines trying to buy books) and socialize (gripe about the fact that our school is making students broke).

I was on my way to class, taking big confident strides because I was looking good (to me), feeling good, ready to jump in feet first to start off the school year. I had to pass in front of the bookstore to get to class, so as I approached the front of the bookstore, I started walking straighter, and maybe threw in a slight sashay into my gait. And then out of nowhere and of course, right in front of the bookstore; I slipped and almost lost my balance. It seems i found an invisible puddle and stepped into it.

Thankfully, I didn't fall and I didn't hurt anything, so I was able to regain my composure but my ego was bruised. I was forced to walk the remainder of the route to my class taking smaller, measured steps.

Lesson learned from this incident: I need to dress more sensibly when it rains (aka I need new boots)

What i wore:
Faux Leather Jacket (F21)
Shirt (H & M)
Skirt ( Thrifted)
Tights (Target)
Ankle Boots (Go Jane)

My mother's birthday was on Sunday, so i spent a majority of my weekend planning with my sisters and my dad. I love to plan things and watch things unfold and come together as planned so i had a great time. I 'm usually the one planning family vacations, trips and date nights for me and the Manfriend.
On the big day, we actually had our family portrait redone (because i oppose contacts) then headed home to cut the cake and have dinner (and dancing). It was fantastic, we had a family photoshoot, then food and then dancing...it was a near perfect day.

here's what i wore for the day. We started with a casual clothes..everyone got to choose casual clothes that reflect their personalities... i'm in love w/ blazers right now, so of course i wore one. I'd planned on saving this blazer for the spring, but i couldn't resist wearing it for the photos.

This outfit:
Blazer (Express)
Black Top (F21)
Jeans ( Express)
Shoes (Bakers)
Blue Flower Headband (Beauty Supply Store)

Then we changed to our native attires. These were custome made for us, we chose the colors. And thankfully the seamstress understood that i walk fast, so my skirt blossoms from the knees downwards to allow plenty of leg room and big movement.

I'm posting my sister's outfits as well. Lachmeister is on the left, and Nimsta is on the right. These are all nicknames as i'm posting these pics w/out their permission...or with their staunch objection. But as the oldest child, sometimes my say gets to override theirs. Its basically the same style, a shirt and a long skirt, but w/ differentiating details; ruffles and ropes and different cuts for the top.

Photo credits go to my sisters for my photos and i took the pics of them.
By the way, they gave me permission to put up their pics :-)
Happy New Year Everyone!!
I hope everyone had a fun filled, relaxing and wonderful new year's day. I would say we're all pretty blessed to see the new year. I spent the first day of the new year lounging about in my comfiest clothes hanging out with my family. We decided to leave the house but we were limited to our choices of where to go, due to the declining temperatures, so we ended up going to one of the posher *cough *richer malls, where a lot of stars have been spotted. Of course when i went, i spotted no one. Grr.
This is what i wore on New Year's Day:
Coat (F21)
Sweater (Papaya)
Skirt (F21)
Tights (Target)
Ribbon (taken off a dress)
Boots (Chinese Laundry)

One of my new year resolutions was to step outside my comfort zone. Try something new and different for me appearance wise So TADA!!!. I'm still playing with and adjusting to the new length, but on the plus side its very low maintenance which i love AND its got that french girl effortless cool vibe thing going on.
This is what i wore:
Faux Leather Jacket (X-mas Gift F21)
Pashmina (X-mas Gift)
Jeans (F21)
Boots (American Eagle)
